PHOTO ANNOTATION
The verso pages in this chapter contain a variety of stories and poems, some pages are left blank, and others continue the novel itself. Note, too, that only one side of the paper was lined, but Montgomery evidently did not care which side of the paper she used. The very next page is written across the lined side. The lined sheets were torn in half, perhaps to make it easier to write on the portfolio on her lap or knee. The photo here shows where we are in the manuscript stack and the irregular page sizes.
The backs of the Notes pages that correspond to this section of the manuscript include the same variety of stories, manuscript text, and blanks.
